Brand design process and editorial guidelines for the Anuario del Instituto de Geología y Paleontología de Cuba.
The editorial design of the Yearbook developed for the Institute of Geology and Paleontology (IGP) seeks to collect and show the projects and achievements accomplished by the Institute annually.
The main focus of this editorial design work centered on the need to create a system that responded to the visual identity of the IGP. On this basis, the main colors used were orange, brown and white, in accordance with the Identity Manual.
However, the work on the composition focused on the need to update the way in which the institution projects itself to its public, so a very dynamic treatment was sought. The hierarchy between titles and texts was exacerbated to further emphasize the same attributes.
In general, the work process starts with the collection of information in working groups. Direct contact with our clients is vital. This step, despite its apparent ease, is as a rule the one that takes the longest to complete. It involves the participation of multiple scientists and workers in charge of collecting all the necessary documentation.
Once the previous stage has been completed, all this information is carefully reviewed and edited to ensure the highest possible level of quality and to move on to the design and layout stage.
For the delivery of the final artwork, several revisions of text, content and design are made until the final result is ready for printing.
