Journal Collection

Design process and editorial guidelines for the collection of the annual journal Geoinformativa, a scientific publication of the Institute of Geology and Paleontology.

GEOINFORMATIVA Journal is the publication that compiles and promotes the results of geological research in Cuba. This project constitutes a summary of the advances achieved in this area of research by scientists and workers in the Geosciences.

The design of the editorial guideline had to be simple and concise, which would encourage a continuous and pleasant reading.

The first aspects to be designed were the identity and the header. This identity set the guidelines for the graphic resources to be used on the cover and the inside pages of the scientific magazine.

The illustration of the museum building with its new identity was the subject of the first cover. The use of the illustration would become an identifying element for the rest of the issues up to the present day. Other recurring codes are the superimposition of colored areas and columns of text, capitular letters and overscaled titles.

The internal pages, on the other hand, were laid out based on the delivery of the articles by the publisher. In addition, the resources provided by the authors in the format of texts and images were respected, since they represent specific contents of the research.
